National Heritage Week 21st-29th August 2010 - Cahersiveen/Caherdaniel/Valentia . Events nationwide.
The aim of National Heritage Week is to build awareness and education about our heritage thereby encouraging its conservation and preservation. Each year many national and hundreds of local community organisations participate by organising events throughout the country. Many of the events that take place during the week are free and the programme highlights the abundance of great work that is carried out in all communities in Ireland to preserve and promote our natural, built and cultural heritage. The deadline for registering an event for online listing is the 14th of August each year so it’s not too late to register if you have an event that you think could be included see www.heritageweek.ie
All sorts of events can are eligible covering all areas of interest such as Archaeology, Archives, Coastal & Marine, Folklore (Music/Dance/Storytelling/Poetry), Forests & Woodlands, Genealogy, Geology, Historic Buildings, Gardens & Parks, Inland Waterways, Rivers, Lakes & Wetlands, Landscapes, Living History (Re-enactments/Displays), Local History, Military, Museums, Galleries and Historic Collections, Sport, Traditional Skills, Transport, Walled Towns, Wildlife and Childrens events.
Activities range from fairs, night-time bat walks, wildlife tours and lectures to music recitals, historical re-enactments, and outdoor activities.

Free of Charge, weather conditions permitting, not suitable for children.
